14 Photos to Inspire You to Go to Berlin
In her 1999 novel White Oleander, Janet Fitch wrote: “Nobody had forgotten anything here. In Berlin, you had to wrestle with the past, you had to build on the ruins, inside them. It wasn't like America where we scraped the earth clean, thinking we could start again every time. ”
And so describes my journey through Berlin, a city teeming with historic relics alongside modern buildings. Traipsing through the capital of Germany is like walking through a time capsule, from the Wall to Checkpoint Charlie. Yet it is one of my favorites cities for its bohemian communities and imaginative culinary flair, all of which has risen up despite its historic legacy as a city divided.
